Operational Excellence Engineer - Supplier Development / Quality & Performance

Would you like to work for a company where you will have a major influence on supplier CI direction & strategy?
Would you like to work for an organisation known for their business excellence?
We are looking to recruit a Supplier Development to work strategise and implement the Continuous improvement for suppliers to this major UK manufacturer.
They are looking to secure the services of a person who is still very hands on and would like influence the direction of sub contract suppliers in the UK.

This role will encompass managing ongoing Supplier Performance and drive continuous improvements.

·Monitoring of supplier adherence to Process Change Notification (PCN) (for changes driven by Supplier and Caterpillar) on a timely and cost effective basis.
·Ensuring all relevant requirements and related changes are thoroughly documented e.g. Process FMEA {failure mode & effects analysis}, Process Control Plans, Process flow chart, Gage R&R {repeatability & reproducibility}).
·Validate Supplier stated Process Capabilities.
·PPAP (production part approval process) completion and approval prior to delivery of new parts
·Auditing overall supplier capability and process control implementation and effectiveness to validate process capability.
·Resolution and implementation of robust solutions for quality problems associated with purchased materials and engineering issues (Robust 8D adherence and closure).
·Participation in quality improvement meetings
·Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards within this diverse global organization

Essential Skills:
·Engineering or manufacturing background plus familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies for complex products
·Knowledge of shop operations Casting and Machining
·Good interpersonal communication, analytical, leadership and project management skills to develop a cooperative working relationships with others both inside and outside of Caterpillar
·Capable of using and demonstrating statistical and problem solving tools (8D)
·History of managing supplier relationships demonstrated by purchasing or supply chain experience
·Ability to read and understand Engineering drawing

Desirable (not Essential) Skills:

·Quality engineering certification
·APQP experience
·6 Sigma experience as a Green Belt or Black Belt
·Working knowledge of metrology

Duration - Longterm
Rate - £30 - £35 ph
