Job Description
• R&D lead for electro-optics and display devices
• optimising existing liquid crystal systems
• working with the management team to define and implement new applications and technology for customer led projects.
• Leading new R&D projects to advance our technology
• preparing bids and project proposals, and reporting on progress
• working with relevant academic partners, defining and managing academic partner projects
SKILLS
• experienced R&D scientist with post-doctoral or relevant industrial experience in optical device physics, chemistry or engineering
• strong computer modelling skills using off the shelf or custom coded models
• understanding of materials and materials formulation
• ability to design, implement, execute and report scientific experiments and characterisation systems
Experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
• liquid crystal and dichroic dye materials
• experimental device fabrication and characterisation
• colour science and human visual perception
• physical and optical human computer interaction and user studies
• working with chemists and suppliers
• production/manufacturing environment
• project management
• working in an ISO 9001 environment
• programming in C, LabVIEW or Matlab
• environmental testing
• working in a cleanroom environment
• basic electronics or mechatronics
