Quantity Surveyor

The Company
My client is rapidly expanding construction company based in Leicestershire, specialising in residential new build and refurbishment. With a turnover of £5.5m for 2018/19, predicted to increase to £7.5m for 2019/20 they are looking for a committed, conscientious individual, who is keen to further their career and grow with our business

  • Procurement of Sub-Contract; Consultant and Supply only packages
  • Analysis of work package tender returns
  • Preparation of Orders with Sub-Contractors, Consultants and Suppliers
  • Contribute to the preparation if interim and final account applications for the Company and likewise internal cost and value reconciliation reports
  • Subject to the approval of the Commercial Director value and agree Changes/Variations with the Employer
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Carry out take-off, measurement, scheduling exercises and prepare bills of quantities for the procurement and sub-letting processes
  • Assist with and respond to project level correspondence
  • Attend project related meetings
  • Integrate and liaise with the site team
  • Day to day role will include
  • Manage several projects
  • Negotiate with contractors
  • Pre and Post contract delivery
  • Support to the Commercial Director and Contracts Manager
  • Contribute to the delivery of all confirmed project tasks and goals
  • Compliance with all company procedures and protocols

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Holds the relevant qualifications (Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying desirable)
  • Experience within a similar role.
  • Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel
  • Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally
  • Must be an excellent organiser with proven time management skills
  • Confident in client and customer facing roles
  • Managing change and notifications, including contractual communications within agreed timescales
  • Cost monitoring and planning
  • Valuation submission and cash management
  • Sub contract management and procurement
  • Management of the production of contracts/subcontracts etc.
  • Working closely with the Contracts Manager on all commercial and contractual issues
  • Reporting to the Commercial Director Managing contractual issues on project
  • Management of the risk process
  • Preparation of target costs and budget estimates
  • Liaison with the Client and his Representatives
  • Financial reporting, including internal CVR reports, audits and forecasts and external reporting/audits
  • Any other reasonable quantity surveying related task as directed by line manager or referred to in QS Procedures Manual
