Job Description

Quality Technician / Quality Inspector
Location: near Rugby
Starting salary is £27,650

The Role
  • Reporting to the Manufacturing Quality Manager, you will ensure that all Quality standards are achieved for both manufactured and purchased products.
  • Providing the first point of inspection and document verification of outsourced products;
  • maintaining report and performance metrics;
  • raising quality non-conformance reports (NCR);
  • notifying suppliers of non-conformance
  • supporting the problem resolution process, including Containment, Root Cause Analysis, Investigation, Corrective and Preventative Actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain 5S standards in all work areas (Inc PC Files)
  • Perform product and process audits (Process Walk, FOD, etc)
  • Inspect incoming parts and subassemblies and perform detailed measurement analyses to support investigations and containment
  • Support Final Inspection in accordance with Cosmetic Standards and ATP's.
  • Raise and release QC Hold for seats
  • Source inspection in support of customer requirements. (Delegated customer SI)
  • Liaise with the production teams, supporting and promoting quality improvement activities
  • Raise and manage NCRs including Containment and raise Q Alert.
  • Review and approve component reject notes for defective components
  • Manage Material Review Board (MRB) process and disposition of product (i.e., Rework, Scrap, RTV)
  • Manage 3C's - Concern, Cause, Countermeasure
  • Raise and manage CAR (Full 8D - Containment, Root Cause Analysis, Corrective and Preventative Actions)
  • Validate Supplier FAIR
  • Raise and issue Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR)
  • Release of product on EASA Form 1 as required
  • Manage the calibration control of inspection, measurement and test equipment (IMTE)


To be successful in this position you will have/be:
  • Aerospace and Airworthiness knowledge
  • Good interpersonal, communication and numerical skills (both verbal and written)
  • Diligent, enthusiastic and driven, with an excellent work ethic, and a “can do” attitude
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise and manage conflicting demands
  • Highly adaptable and capable of making decisions in a fast and pressured environment
  • Proven ability to read Engineering Drawings (including good knowledge of GD&T) and ability to understand and apply Cosmetic Guidelines
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Working knowledge and basic awareness of First Article Inspection Requirements (AS9102) to assess Supplier and support the preparation of internal First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs)
  • Skills and experience with a Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM)
  • Ability to raise NCR and facilitate MRB processes
  • Ability to apply structured problem-solving tools (i.e., Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc) and methodologies (3C's and 8D)
  • Confident in the use of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word and Excel) and accurate data entry skills
