Job Description

Quality Engineer - Birmingham

I am currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer with the ambition and drive to take their career to the next level.

The role is offered on a permanent basis with a salary up to £35K, but more importantly the role offers an opportunity to join a company with substantial potential for growth and development.

Key to the role is demonstrable experience of developing and improving quality processes, challenging the status quo, and working as part of a focussed team.

You will be provided a defined career path, with support and training and the Head of Quality as your mentor.
Aside from experience as a Quality Engineer in a precision manufacturing environment, you will have demonstrable Continuous Improvement experience, in a leadership role.
You will have experience of recognising problems and opportunities to improve, bringing in new ideas, and influencing people to drive change, throughout the business

The Person
HNC/HND, degree or equivalent in Engineering, Quality, Safety or related discipline
Methodical and compliance driven mindset.
Qualified ISO 9001: 2015 auditor
Practical experience in ISO9001 Management Systems is desired but not essential.
Practical experience of ISO 14001, 3838 and AQAP standards is desired nut not essential.
Good understanding of process capability, metrics and improvement methodology and tools.
Knowledge of Quality Assurance methodologies and tools i.e. APQP, FMEA, Lean, 8D.
Some Practical Knowledge of machining, assembly, welding and fabrication is preferable but not essential.
Experience of dealing with customers as a point to point contact.

The Role

Generate product documentation packs.
Liaise with customers through documentation validation process.
Perform data analysis to determine levels of performance, identify areas of opportunity and / or concern and devise appropriate responses.
Implement KPI's to monitor performance internally, within the supply chain and from our customers.
Support the customer, internal and supplier quality improvement plan.
Implement effective process and system management throughout the business, in line with industry recognised standards.
Communicate key quality messages around the business (for example tool box talks, internal marketing material).
Perform audits on key business processes to identify levels of compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Perform supplier audits when required.
Lead 8D's and devise solutions for complex problems (internally and externally) and manage through to completion.
Train and mentor other members of the business and the quality team in quality tools and practices.
Implement and embed quality tools on the shop floor (5 Why, R & R, SPC, Control Charts, Pareto, process FMEA's etc).
