Are you able to work from engineering drawings and react quickly to design changes?
Can you operate hand and power tools?
Have you worked on vehicle assembly, ideally for tracked vehicles, yellow goods, and construction vehicles?
To be successful, you will need:
A comprehensive range of Fabrication, assembly and fitting skills with previous experience in similar roles.
The ability to interpret drawings and work from written instructions with limited supervision.
The ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment with high accuracy.
Either a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical assembly or equivalent or through work experience gained on the job
The role will best suit candidates with varied and high level hands-on assembly/fitting experience who can pick up a variety of technical tasks and complete them to a high standard. This is not production line work.
As the builds are also still going through some developmental you will need a good understanding of engineering drawings and technical annotation so that you can react to minor design changes easily, and even offer solutions if assembly issues are encountered.
You will be capable of electrical and mechanical assembly and the integration of complex systems, working from drawings and engineering instruction.
You will be competent in the safe use of all hand and air tools, and hand and drill techniques.
You will be experienced in the use of Jigs, fixtures and measuring tools on precision assemblies.
The role will be based in Peterborough and will last at least 6-12 months, although indications are these times will be exceeded
1 x Electrical Build Technician
1x Electro / Mech Build Technician
£16-£17 (Ltd) - £11-£12 (paye)
Electrical and mechanical assembly and integration of complex systems
Working from drawings and engineering instruction.
Competent and safe use of all hand and air tools.
Hand and Mag Drill techniques.
Use of Jigs, fixtures and measuring tools on precision assemblies.
Experience of electrical and mechanical assembly / fitting OR pure Mechanical Fitting with experience of plate fabrication and sub assembly build.
You will need either of those skills coupled with following;
- A comprehensive range of assembly and fitting skills with previous experience in similar roles.
- Ability to interpret drawings and work from written instructions with limited supervision
- Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment with high accuracy
- Experience of using jigs, fixtures and measuring tools on precision assemblies
- Problem solver with a positive attitude
- Previous experience in armour vehicle assembly and maintenance would be beneficial
- Able to meet criteria for security clearance (5 year checkable history)
Either recognised apprenticeship in mechanical assembly or equivalent or through work experience gained on the job.
