The Technical Applications Engineer will:
Be responsible to the Business Development Director.
Have experience of complex machines
Have excellent conceptual design skills
Have experience in specifying and sizing components for complex assemblies, such as calculating forces and sizing motor requirements.
Handle enquiries with customer contact via email, phone and visits
Keep track of enquiries and maintain the company's enquiry log
Call upon technical and commercial contributions from office staff as required
Agree quoted prices and delivery lead times.
Maintain the company's KPIs on enquiry performance, aiming for steady reduction in response times and increases in numbers of enquiries handled, on-time deliveries and proportion won.
Person Specification
The Technical Applications Engineer will:
Be an established engineer with a demonstrable track record of customer contact, original design and quotation preparation
Be degree qualified
Be able to understand and reconcile inputs from many different technical and commercial areas, to produce the complete customer quotation
Have a wide engineering and technical background with a desire to apply this experience to new challenges.
Have a quick-thinking, open and responsive attitude to new problems, and an innovative but realistic approach to design.
Be an excellent communicator, written and verbal, at all levels.
Be able to motivate, organise and inspire office staff to support sales activities and achieve the best quality of proposals we can within the allotted time.
Project management skills would be an asset.
Solidworks CAD software skills would be an advantage for sketching design proposals.

Engineering: 5 years (Required)
Education:
Bachelor's (Required)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: 27-35k Negotiable for the right candidate + Use of pool car for business for occasional visits out.
