I am recruiting for a manufacturing engineer (process engineer) to join a precision engineering company and do the following for them.
To come in and evaluate current manufacturing processes, specifically assembly
Review capital equipment needs: eg handling equipment (hoists etc), testing equipment (test rigs etc).
Review layouts then go into process optimization (time/motion studies?, routing, SMED.
Basically, make things better
The products being made are on the large side (around 2 metres across and made of metal).
To be able to do this job it is expected that candidates will have the following demonstrable skills and experience:
Assembly of large-scale components (valves, generators, pumps, wings?)
New Product Introduction (NPI)
PFMEA, DFM, DFA, Jig & Fixture design, lean & CI and the usual process optimization methods
Project management experience (project gateways/milestones). Able to demonstrate ability to develop project plans, flow charts)
Able to be customer facing when required ( to discuss progress WIP)
Capital equipment review (and supplier management experience)
Experience with plant/process modernization
You will be asked to provide in-depth examples during interview. 2nd stage interview would involve a presentation of how you would analyse current manufacturing processes and implement any changes.
