Job Description

My East London based client have a vacancy for a Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Surveyor within their well-established and thriving business. Working for a progressive company, this role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop the role with a significant degree of self-management in a fast-paced and robust environment at their office and on project sites.

JOB PURPOSE
To maximize project margin and add value to project by proactive involvement in procurement, cost management and all forms of financial reporting. To drive best value from suppliers and sub-contractors. To carry out monthly financial reviews (CVR's), valuations on the project and forecast final outturn values for cost, sales and margin. Maximize value of monthly applications and measurement and submission of all contract variations in a detailed format, including marked up drawings showing changes and photographs for record purposes. Timely submission and negotiation of final accounts to main sub-contractors and our sub-contractors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Contract Surveying
·To prepare and monitor project cash flow forecast
·To carry out and agree monthly valuations of work in progress including forecasting final costs to senior management
·Measure, value submit and negotiate contract variations
·Provide advice to project staff on commercial and contractual correspondence
·Prepare and submit final accounts in detail
·Commercial vetting of sub-contractors
·Certification and management of sub-contractor applications and accounts
·Ensure the business commercial processes are adhered to at project level
·Assist in preparation and adherence to project purchasing targets and costing budgets

Skill requirements
·Experience in AMTECH Estimation Software is essential
·Minimum of 4 years' experience in M&E environment
·Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar
·Knowledge of current pricing levels within M&E is an advantage
·Sound knowledge of construction techniques, building standards and commercial and environmental standards.
·Commercially astute, numerate, risk adverse and able to accurately forecast cost
·Multitasking, self-motivated, energetic team player with a flexible and adaptable approach to work
·Have good practical organization skills, planning of resources and programme scheduling
·Be able to provide both summarized and detailed reports in a timely manner.

People Management
·Able to work well within a team based environment
·Communicate regularly with project staff and specialist sub-contractors to ensure commercial Controls are in place therefore ensuring budgets are adhered
·Communicate regularly with senior management
