Job Description

A role has arisen for a Fleet Manager to take all responsibility for all fleet management, including ensuring staff are competent to drive vehicles, vehicle licensing, safety checks and that documentation is in order. You will be responsible for all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair and yard usage.

Role 

  • Responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are periodically maintained, in line with manufacturers requirements.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet legal and statutory requirements
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork, to ensure compliance against audit criteria
  • Ensure daily checks are undertaken on all vehicles and trailers, prior to commencement of shifts.
  • Responsible for fleet management activities, including safety checks and for ensuring documentation is in order
  • Ensure that staff are trained and competent to drive the fleet of vehicles, safely and professionally at all times.
  • Liaise with manufacturers to ensure that any defects are repaired within operational timescales.
  • Assist in re-tendering supply contracts, as required.
  • Ensure that clear processes are in place for vehicle access to the yard and warehouse
  • Responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are adequately fuelled to commence their shifts on time and that fuel arrangements are recorded and reported and that the most effective rotation of the fleet is arranged.
  • Responsible for ensure that all staff have the necessary licenses to drive the fleet of vehicles
  • Maintain a professional on site interface with the client, working closely with the team to meet project deadlines and respond to their requirements.
  • Complete all paperwork as required, in an accurate, legible and timely manner
  • Report and act on any Quality Management System issues, in order to maintain ISO 9001-2008.


Qualifications & Experience Required 

  • Strong management and organisational skills
  • Proven experience of managing a diverse fleet of vehicles
  • Full training in safe driving techniques will be provided to all staff responsible for redistribution activities
  • Must be willing to be fully trained in delivering training courses and present these courses to staff;
  • Ideally NVQ A1 Assessor;
  • Ideally have knowledge / experience of Transport for London;
  • Exceptional customer service skills;
  • Trustworthy, reliable and flexible;
  • Knowledge and experience of health and safety;
  • Problem resolution skills;
  • Good People Management skills;
  • Flexible regarding working hours;
  • Must be willing to travel around London;
  • Clean driving licence
