Job Summary: The Senior Estimator will coordinate the enquiry and tendering processes for projects ranging up to £15 million in the South East region, as part of a team. Reporting to the Regional Commercial Manager, the Senior Estimator will manage all budget and tender enquiries and will prepare estimates.
He/she will be able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role, preferably in both the civil engineering and building sectors of the construction industry. He/she will have sufficient technical skills and will be confident working with a minimum of supervision. The role demands a structured and well organised style, good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
To undertake commercial activities with a high degree of acumen.
To identify opportunities to add value throughout the project process.
To identify risks and opportunities.
To price selected trades from first principles using agreed Dawnus outputs.
To lead the supply chain enquiry process.
To produce a detailed control document at handover to delivery team.
To conduct their role in a way consistent with the company's sustainability objectives.
To complete or manage project take-offs to the required level of detail
To constantly reinforce and deliver our customer first ethic.
To lead and prepare the complete commercial and pricing element of a tender or cost plan
Good standard of mathematical ability
Proven experience of controlling costs, timing and quality in line with targets
Accurate pricing from first principles of identified packages.
Understanding of various construction methods.
Using Microsoft suite of Office programmes; inc. Excel, Word, Outlook
Using Conquest Estimating system or similar
Ability to prioritise and plan to deliver agreed objectives
Education, Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum relevant level 4 qualification (HNC / NVQ4 etc) or equivalent
Minimum 15 years' estimating experience
Appropriate CSCS card preferable
