Job Description

Buyer required for a 6 months temporary role for a Manufacturing company in Coventry

Pay rate is £14.00 per hour PAYE.

All candidates must have worked as a buyer in an engineering manufacturing company before, and have experience of SAP.

Previous experience of both SAP and purchasing for an engineering manufacturing company is essential.


Candidates should also have:

·Basic engineering knowledge is required, backed up by practical experience (and preferably qualifications).
·Knowledge of purchasing principles and negotiating skills and techniques.
·Basic understanding of commercial law is required to allow purchasing contracts and conditions to be understood.
·Good planning, organisational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
·Candidates should hold a valid driving licence to allow travel to suppliers' sites.


Duties include:

·Ensure that orders are placed, administered and expedited taking into consideration delivery requirements, quality and inventory impacts.
·Managing re-scheduling as required.
·Communicate sourcing problems and delays to the Manufacturing department
·Negotiate long term partnership agreements.
·Conduct negotiations to agree purchase price, lead time and delivery arrangements.
·Negotiating conditions covering delays, failure to perform, defects, terms of payment, etc.
·Ensure that the business system is maintained with correct pricing, supplier and lead time information.
·Monitor the performance of suppliers taking this into consideration when taking sourcing decisions
·Monitor and manage purchase expenditure for products and services procured.
·Reporting any trends that may impact on overall costs.
·Maintain and monitor measures of performance.
·Liaise with Engineering and other departments to ensure that suppliers are provided the correct drawings and documentation.
