Development Engineer – Performance & Emissions
JOB PURPOSE: Candidates will serve as an experienced, individual contributor for
engine emissions development and Certification projects. Specific assignments are
complex in nature and support the performance and emissions development of engine products.
JOB DUTIES: This position is part of a team of engineers responsible for the
performance and emissions development of engine products. The
engines are used in machine, industrial and electric power applications.
Responsibilities will include:
- Deploying a clear explanation of emissions certification requirements
- Coaching associated business areas on emissions requirements to ensure timely execution of certification work streams
- Leading the execution of engine emissions certifications from receipt of request, through certificate received, to emissions label implementation
- Maintaining owned emissions certificates and associated labels through life of production
- Developing / fostering a collaborative relationship with global governmental agency representatives
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years hands on experience in engine emissions & compliance
- Proven ability to instigate and successfully lead parallel work streams to firm timing and quality targets
- An engineering or legal education / background
- Strong moral compass. A passion for doing things right and to a high standard
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse functional areas and remote centres of business
- An eye for detail, with a track record in consistently delivering work to a high standard of accuracy
- Ability and interest in digesting regulatory materials
- Confident and effective communicator – able to articulate Caterpillar’s focus on compliance, and to challenge the status quo where necessary, to establish the facts.
- Ability to travel (occasional) and represent Caterpillar on a global platform
